Kelan, Bronsen, Kaden, Nash, Durke, Braxton, Jaxon, Jerrit, Cody, Kannin, Jake, and Braygen!

This Week & RINGWORM!

This week we will have practices as scheduled, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 pm. We have our first tournament on Saturday! It's at North Sevier. To register, please go to trackwrestling.com. You will be responsible to put in your child's weight when you sign them up. PLEASE BE HONEST!   Registration closes on Friday evening. It's always best to register early, just in case they change the deadline.

One big concern we have as wrestlers is ringworm. Our mats are disinfected before each practice, so please do your part as parents to avoid your child getting it and spreading it to other kids. Your wrestler needs to shower after every practice, and his practice clothes need to be washed (not re-worn for pj's or for the next practice). Bedding needs to be washed weekly, and you need to wash their singlets after each tournament. Headgear can be wiped down with alcohol and a cotton ball.

If your child has signs of ringworm, or any red patches of skin on their body (almost resembling eczema), that won't go away and/or seem to get bigger, please see your doctor right away. You will need some anti-fungal cream or oral medication.

A worthwhile read...

For The Longest Time - I Got It Wrong

I thought the ultimate achievement in wrestling was to win a State Championship...It is not.

The ultimate achievement in wrestling is to prepare a young man for his life by having him become the best person he can become by acquiring the "Qualities of a Wrestler" while in pursuit of a state championship.

Acquiring these qualities is more important than winning a state championship.

They are what is needed to become happy and successful in life.

These qualities are acquired during the pursuit and not in the winning.

It is in the pursuit that a kid transcends into a man.

It is in the pursuit that a kid is prepared for what life will bombard him with when he becomes a man.

It is in the pursuit that this sport is at its finest.

Winning a state championship doesn't teach these things.

The pursuit does.

It is setting a goal that is more than you think you can ever achieve and then achieving more than you thought you ever could.

It is in overcoming any and all obstacles that may be in your path in pursuit of that goal.

It is in the agony of learning how to "figure it out" on your own.

It is in making the necessary adjustments even after "You figured it out."

The hard adjustments which will require supreme sacrifice that will only make a small difference.

Which will happen to be the difference between winning or losing.

It is in working endlessly and seeing no results; and still continuing to work because your will is stronger than everyone else's doubt.

It is in failing miserably and very publicly in front of your peers and everyone who is important to you only to attempt again, even when the above average human would just quit, so he would never have to feel that humiliation ever again.

It is in not achieving your desired goal, after a very long hard season, one in which you bled to do so. To then make a personal decision to work even harder for another season with absolutely no guarantee of success.

It is in the knowing that you did everything that you could to achieve your goal and the understanding that sometimes that will be enough, and sometimes it won't.

You can't control that.

All you can control is to be as best prepared as you can.

It is in the understanding that when it magically is enough, that you are humble because you know the feeling of being on the other side of the win.

And when it is not enough you know to dig down and inspect and analyze your performance because there is something within the loss that you need to learn to help you achieve a future bigger goal.

And you find it.

And you turn a weakness into a strength.

And you keep doing that until you have no more weaknesses.

This is the process of becoming a man.

Many wrestlers who went on to win a state championship are now jerks.

Many wrestlers who took 2nd, 3rd or never even placed have become great people.

So it is not winning the state championship that is the difference.

It is what you take away from this great sport that is the difference.

It is in the pursuit.

If ones idea of achievement is to win a state championship then logically there can be only 1 winner per weight class throughout the state.

There is not.

Because the real winners in this sport are the wrestlers who acquire the traits which will be necessary for their success and happiness in life.

And those traits all can be found in the pursuit.

This Week

This week we will have practice as scheduled. Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 pm.

We do not have any tournaments this weekend. As previously mentioned, our first tournament will be at North Sevier on November 14th. We will let you know when they open registration so you can all get signed up.

Have a great week! See you on Tuesday!

Practice

Last night was an AWESOME first practice! We want to welcome three new wrestlers to our team : Kannin, Bronsen and Nash!

We will have practice on Thursday (as scheduled) from 5-7 pm. Please remember to let us know if you are finishing up football/soccer so we can get you on the roster and save you a spot on the team. We are capping the amount of wrestlers again this year, so if you want to wrestle with Team Takedown, let us know as soon as possible!

Please have your wrestlers do their homework! It will help during practice and especially the tournaments! Have them do at least 50 sit ups, 50 push ups, and 50 up downs each day. They will thank you for it when they aren't so tired at practice :)

We have a couple tournaments coming up next month that we wanted to give you all a heads up on. North Sevier is on November 14th, and Caleb Williams (Spanish Fork) on November 20-21. Caleb Williams splits the age groups, which is why that tournament shows two days (you won't wrestle both days). We will post more information on these tournaments as it becomes available.

If you are planning on doing Caleb Williams (and most of the other tournaments that come up), you'll need a USA card. You can purchase that by following the USA Card link on the right side of this blog site. Click the link and follow the instructions to purchase. If you need help, let one of the coaches know.

Please remember that waivers and payment are due by November 15th.

Thank You!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back Team Takedown! We are excited to announce the start of our 2015 Fall Season!

Practices will start TOMORROW, October 27th. We will practice in the same building (the Team Takedown building behind Freedom Ford in Gunnison) every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 pm.

Registration forms and waivers will be available during the first two weeks of practice. The cost for the Fall Season (October 27th - Super State & Beehive Brawl) is $100.00. All forms, waivers, and registration fees are due by November 15, 2015, unless other arrangements are made.

We understand that some of you are still finishing up football and soccer, and won't be to the first few practices. If that's the case, please let us know so we can make sure we get you on the team roster! (Space will be limited.)

Please remember, all team announcements, practice changes, tournament dates, etc., will be posted on this website. Please check it weekly! Updates will be posted by Monday evening, letting everyone know the schedule for the upcoming week.

We are looking forward to another great year of wrestling, and hope you are too! See you Tuesday!

Camp Photos

If any wrestlers have attended summer camps and have some fun pictures or videos, send them to us! We would love to post them on our team site! Please email them to swinn1@farmersagent.com.

Update on Timp Camp

When registering for the Timp Camp, there is an option to buy a Spectator Pass. So it looks like they are now going to allow parents to video/supervise. So this camp might be a great option for our wrestlers!

If interested in going, please see the previous post for links to register, updated camp times,  and the address to the gym. Registration closes on July 24th.

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Timpanogos Wrestling Camp

Timpanogos High School (Orem) is hosting a wrestling camp July 27-30, 2015. The clinicians are Jordan Burroughs, Anthony Robles, and Jason Chamberlain. The cost is $299 per wrestler and will go from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm each day. Wrestlers will be in charge of their own meals and lodging if you decide to stay up there.

They give a price break if you get a group together and all register at the same time.

The only downfall I could really see to the camp is that you aren't allowed to video anything, and parents/coaches are not allowed to observe due to the size of the gym they are wrestling in.

They are only going to allow wrestlers who are old enough to handle a camp without parent supervision, so this one isn't an option for our little guys.

For more information or to register, please click here. If the link doesn't work, the website is www.timpcamp.com.

Fishlake Wrestling Camp

Parents,

Here is the information for another wrestling camp opportunity that was brought to our
attention. This camp is sponsored by the South Sevier Ram Wrestling Team and
is going to be at the Fishlake Lodge June 29th - July 1st. So if the UVU camp
dates don't work for you, here's another option.

This camp is a commuter camp only. That means you will have to drive up and
back daily, and you will be responsible for meals (they will host a dinner for
wrestlers on Tuesday evening that is included in the price, but all other
meals will be your responsibility. The only meal that they'll really need is
lunch, which you could send from home if necessary). If you don't want to
commute daily, you can contact Fishlake (info is on the flyer) to see about
renting a cabin or a camping spot if you want to pull up a trailer or pitch a
tent. Or, you can get with other wrestlers and put together a carpool.

If you've been to a good camp in the past, or hear about one that sounds like
it would be beneficial, please let us know and we'll get the information
posted.

*Going to a wrestling camp is not required, we're just letting everyone know
about them as a courtesy. We will not be attending any camps or doing any
instruction this summer as a team, so anything you decide to do is on your
own. So feel free to put together a group if you would like to attend one or
more of these camps!

UVU Wrestling Camp

Parents:

Doug Spencer (Owen's dad) found a wrestling camp opportunity for our kids. It's at UVU in Orem June 8-12, 2015. You have to send in the $125 deposit and registration form BEFORE May 1st, and the remainder of the fee will be due when you check in to camp.

If you are interested in going to this camp, please contact Doug. You can reach him by email at out4elk@gmail.com, or by phone at 801-230-4931.  We would like to put together car pools so we aren't all driving individual kids up daily, so please let him know as soon as possible if you will be going so we can figure out carpool schedules.

We sent out an email to the parents we had email addresses for, which was most of our team. If you see this post and know another wrestler that might be interested, please let them know about it. Thank You!

Sanpete Messenger Article

Ok, so we have everything smoothed out with the Sanpete Messenger, and they'll be running the article on the wrestlers next week. So that paper will be out the afternoon of April 15th (or the morning of April 16th). HOWEVER... They could not guarantee that they would be able to print the entire thing, because of space issues. So if you can't make it to the Gunnison area and want a copy of the Gazette, please let Shanelle know by Monday morning (email swinn1@farmersagent.com) and we'll send you a copy. If you want to pick up a copy it will be available at Gunnison Market, or either gas station until Tuesday evening (unless they sell out).

If you don't really want a copy of the Gazette, but want to see the article, here you go! Thank you Mark and Jodi for doing a fabulous job showing our town what a great team we have!

Newspaper Article on Team Takedown

The Gunnison Gazette is out today with the article about our team, and the Sanpete Messenger should be out this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Be sure and pick up a copy, it turned out awesome!

**UPDATE** The Messenger didn't run the article this week. We are going to find out if it will be in next weeks paper and let everyone know. If you don't live in the Gunnison area and would like a copy of the Gazette, please email Shanelle at swinn1@farmersagent.com with your name and address. We'll mail you a copy!

Team Pictures & Newspaper Article

Last night we had our team party at the gym. Mark from the Gunnison Gazette came and took some photos of the wrestlers to put in the newspaper. That article will be out on Wednesday, April 8th. He is also going to send it over to the Sanpete Messenger, so it should come out in both papers.

We've emailed out copies of the group photo, plus individuals to everyone that had them taken. If you didn't get your photos, check your junk folder. If it's not there, email Shanelle (swinn1@farmersagent.com) and we'll get new ones sent to you.

The group photo is missing Kaylob Olsen, Durke Larsen, Owen Spencer, Owen Paulsen, Glen Paulsen and Gage Mackey. You guys will be mentioned in the newspaper article, but won't be in any of the photos. Sorry.

Thank you Cody, Riley, J.L, Spencer, and Rob for being wonderful coaches and examples to our children. They all look up to you guys, and we (as parents) really appreciate your time and effort in making our kids better wrestlers and people.

Parents: Thanks for sharing your kids with us. We learn just as much from them as they do from us. This has been one of the best years we've had with Team Takedown, and we hope the wrestlers feel like they've benefited from being on our team!

We hope all the wrestlers have a great off-season!

State Wrestling!

We had an AMAZING weekend at State! 14 of the 21 wrestlers that went made it to the FINALS! Of those 14, we had FIVE STATE CHAMPS!!

Congratulations Jake Sorenson, Jerrit Anderson, Tristan Ha'o, Braygen Tanner, and Hunter Stevens on your STATE TITLES!

Congratulations to our runners up (2nd Place): Kaden Dyches, Owen Paulsen, Durke Larsen, Braxton Pickett, Glen Paulson, Jaxon Allen, Kelan Layton, Owen Spencer, and Tezlin Winn.

Great Job 3rd Place Wrestlers: Cody Dyches, Keegan Strickland, Ty Ha'o, and Nik Stevens

We also want to congratulate Kaylob Olsen, Mac Olsen, and Gage Mackay. They fought hard and wrestled some tough matches!

Overall as a team, we finished 6th out of 35 teams, which is pretty great!

Here's the slideshow, sorry we missed a few of our wrestlers. Two sessions and two gyms  make it hard to get pics of everyone.

WRESTLERS: DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE PICTURE FOR THE PAPER AND THE PIZZA PARTY ON WEDNESDAY! All info for that is in the previous post!

Saturday, March 28, 2015

Wednesday, April 1st Activity

Parents:

This Wednesday, April 1st, we're going to have our final Team Takedown activity of the season. We've asked the Gunnison Gazette to come to the gym and get a picture of the wrestlers and do a short write up about the season, and then we'll have some pizza and play some games.

Please have your wrestler to the gym by 5:30 pm, dressed in their singlets. They need to bring all their wrestling medals and trophies that they've collected over the years for the team photo.

Coaches need to wear their coach shirts.

We are hoping to do a small highlight on each wrestler, so we need parents to help out with this. Please come up with a small, (around 40 words or so) paragraph about your wrestler for the paper and email it to Shanelle Winn (swinn1@farmersagent.com) by Wednesday at noon. Here's an example of what you can say in the paragraph:

"John Doe has been wrestling with Team Takedown for 4 years, and has claimed 2 state titles. He enjoys wrestling, baseball, hiking, and hanging out with his friends. John is the son of John Sr. and Jane Doe of Gunnison."

You do not have to use that format, it's just an idea for those who may need help with what to write :)

Your wrestler will be ready to be picked up by 7:30 pm. We are asking that parents just drop off their wrestler and then pick them up after, and don't plan on staying. Our gym isn't big enough to hold all the wrestlers, coaches, parents, and siblings; and we don't need any extra distractions while trying to get them to cooperate for pictures!  We will post pictures on the website, so you'll be able to copy and print them if you would like a team photo, or we can email you copies.

Good Luck!

We just want to wish all our wrestlers GOOD LUCK tomorrow at State! We know you'll do great!

Last night at practice, the wrestlers and coaches signed a team singlet to hang up in the gym.
It turned out pretty nice!

State Tournament Information

Here is the flyer for State this weekend. Please notice that they've decided to have two different start times. Pre-K thru 3rd grade will begin at 9:00 am, and 4th thru 8th grades will begin at noon.

Try and be there AT LEAST 30 minutes early to find your mat and warm up.

This Week...

This week we will have practice as scheduled, Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Our tournament this weekend is STATE in Salina! It's hard to believe it's already the end of our season!

For State, you'll need to sign up on Track Wrestling. Click Here for a direct link to register.

We have been approved to host weigh in's at the gym. We'll weigh in on Wednesday after practice, so please be registered before practice so we know who we need to weigh in. If you have other children (or friends/family) who wrestle on a local rec league, or on another team, we can weigh them in and put their weights in for you too. Just bring them with to practice and we'll take care of it.

If you can't make it to practice on Wednesday, you will need to plan on weighing in at North Sevier on Thursday from 4:30-6:30 or Friday between 5-6 pm at the high school.

We had wrestlers travel to Piute on Friday, and Gunnison on Saturday. Congratulations to all of them, they did great!

Piute Results:

1st Place: Kaden Dyches
Kelan Layton (1st Place in BOTH 3rd Grade and 4th Grade!)
                 Braygen Tanner
                 Tezlin Winn

2nd Place: Jaxon Allen
                  Jerrit Anderson
                  Durke Larson
                  Cody Dyches

Gunnison has not updated their results on Track Wrestling. If they do, I'll update them here and let everyone know how our wrestlers did.

This Week, Beaver & TUG Results, and the Slideshow!

This week we will have practice as scheduled, Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Our tournament this weekend will be in Gunnison. You register online by clicking here. You will enter your wrestlers weight when you register (just like we did for the Beaver tournament). Again, please be honest. They said they will be doing random weight checks as you get there, and we don't want anyone from our team being disqualified.

Friday, some of our team traveled to the Beaver tournament. Our wrestlers did great! Here are the Beaver results:

1st Place:  Tristan Ha'o
                  Kelan Layton
                  Cody Dyches
                  Jake Sorenson
                  Braygen Tanner
                  Jerrit Anderson
Tezlin Winn (first in two brackets)

2nd Place:  Kaden Dyches
                   Ty Ha'o

3rd Place:  Jaxon Allen
                  Braxton Pickett

4th Place:  Braylee Larson

Saturday, some of the team traveled to Pleasant Grove for the TUG Tournament.

Freestyle results:

1st Place:   Cody Dyches
                   Hunter Stevens

3rd Place:  Braygen Tanner

4th Place:  Jaxon Allen

** Parents: Just a reminder that we will not be teaching freestyle at practices this year, since we are a folkstyle team. If you want to sign your wrestler up for freestyle, be prepared to coach them. If one of our coaches are there during freestyle, we will be happy to help your wrestler, but if not, you'll need to coach them during the freestyle sessions.

Folkstyle Results:

1st Place:  Kaden Dyches
                 Cody Dyches
                 Hunter Stevens
                 Jerrit Anderson

2nd Place:  Tristan Ha'o
                   Jake Sorenson
                   Kelan Layton

3rd Place:  Durke Larsen
                  Braxton Pickett
                  Tezlin Winn

4th Place:  Braygen Tanner
                  Jaxon Allen

Since we were in THREE different gyms for the TUG tournament, and everyone was wrestling at the same time, we didn't get pictures. A couple of parents sent in some, so we'll just do the one slideshow showing both Beaver and TUG pictures. Enjoy!

This Week's Schedule & Delta and Juab pictures

This week we will have practice as scheduled, Wednesday from 5-7 pm. We have two tournaments this weekend: Beaver on Friday, and Pleasant Grove on Saturday. You have to register online (Track Wrestling) for both.  Click Here  to register.

For Beaver on Friday, you will enter your wrestlers weight when you register them online. PLEASE BE HONEST! They will be doing random weight checks, and if your wrestler is over the allowance, they will be disqualified. There is not a USA Card requirement for the Beaver tournament. Wrestling begins at 5 pm, so please be there by 4:30 to warm up and find your mat.

We will hand out the flyers for both Beaver and Pleasant Grove tournaments at practice on Wednesday.

We will do weigh in's at practice on Wednesday for wrestlers going to Pleasant Grove. Please note, the name of the tournament is "Pleasant Grove TUG Folkstyle".  Please try and be registered before practice on Wednesday, so we know who to weigh in. You need a USA Card to attend this tournament, and it will run a schedule similar to Juab. The schedule will be listed on the flyer we hand out on Wednesday.

You are welcome to try out freestyle wrestling if you like, but parents will need to coach their own wrestlers for that.  However, we will have coaches there for folkstyle.

Parents: If you take pictures and would like them included in  slideshows, please email them to swinn1@farmersagent.com by Sunday evening after we have a tournament. It's really hard for us to get all the wrestlers (especially if we are in seperate gyms), so it is very much appreciated if you send them in!

Both slideshows posted today have just over 100 pictures. Hopefully you can view all of them. If not, please try watching it from a desktop instead of a mobile device.

Friday, some of our team went to Delta. They did AWESOME! Here's a slideshow from the tournament. I'm not sure on what place everyone took, they didn't post the results.

This Week...

This week we will have practice as scheduled, Wednesday from 5-7 pm.

This weekend we have two tournaments scheduled. Friday there is a tournament in Delta. Weigh In's will be in Delta from 3:30-5:30 pm and wrestling will begin as soon as they have the brackets done . The cost is $10. You do not need a USA card to attend the Delta tournament.

Saturday we will be going to Juab. You need to sign up on track wrestling (and have a full athlete USA membership card) to attend. Click Here to go to Track Wrestling and register. PLEASE REMEMBER that we do FOLKSTYLE! There are three options when signing up for the tournament. Freestyle, Folkstyle, and Greco. Please be sure and choose Folkstyle!

If you want to go to Juab and need to purchase a USA card, Click Here. It is $40.

Click Here for the Juab tournament flyer. Please notice on the flyer that there are staggered start times, and registration closes Thursday at 4:30 pm. If you are planning on going to Juab, please be registered by Wednesday afternoon so we know who we need to weigh in at practice.

Congratulations to the wrestlers that went to Wasatch! They did great!

1st Place: Kelan, Tristan
2nd Place: Tezlin, Braygen
3rd Place: Braxton, Ty
4th Place: Kaylob

Here's a slideshow from our tournament in Heber. You should see 34 pictures.  Enjoy!

Tournaments

Parents:

It looks like the next couple tournaments are going to require a USA card to participate. If you want to attend these tournaments, you'll need to purchase the full athlete membership for $40. As far as I can tell, the only tournaments you won't need a card for are Gunnison and *possibly* State in Salina. Salina has never required a card in the past, so I doubt they'll require it for State, but we won't know for sure until they post the tournament information.

You have until tomorrow at 5:00 pm to register for the Wasatch tournament in Heber City. If you are planning on registering, please let us know at practice tonight so we can weigh in your wrestler.

Click Here to purchase a USA Card if you are wanting to participate in the tournaments that require one.

This Week & South Sevier Slideshow

Congratulations wrestlers for an AWESOME weekend at South Sevier! Our team did AMAZING! I know we took home quite a few gold medals!

South Sevier hasn't updated the track website, so I don't know what places everyone took... If they update it, I'll re-post the results here.

This weekend's tournament was supposed to be in Emery. It's been cancelled, so we will be going to the Wasatch Folkstyle tournament in Heber City. Click Here for the tournament flyer. You will need a USA Card (full membership) to attend this tournament. If you want to go and don't have a USA card, you can purchase a membership here.  If I remember right, a full membership is like $40, and is good until August. When you register for the tournament, be sure you register for FOLKSTYLE (not Freestyle or Greco). The cost is $12.

We will do weigh in's for the tournament at practice on Wednesday. If you are planning on going, please register by Wednesday so we can get your wrestlers weight at practice. Click Here to go to Track Wrestling to sign up. Don't accidently register for the "Wasatch Wrestling Club"! Make sure you click on "Wasatch Folkstyle Tournament".

Heres the slideshow from South Sevier. There are right around 100 pictures. Enjoy!

South Sevier Tournament

This week, we will have practice as scheduled: Wednesday from 5-7 pm.

This Saturday is our first tournament! It's at South Sevier. To register, please click here. Scroll until you find "South Sevier Little League" and click on the link. Follow the directions to register. For this tournament, you will enter your wrestlers weight during registration. There will not be any official weigh ins. PLEASE BE HONEST!!! If they check your child's weight at the tourment and find that it was wrong, he will be disqualified.

If you are new to Track Wrestling and have problems signing up, please contact one of the coaches and they will help you out. Registration closes Friday at 5:00 pm, so please register early. Don't wait till the last minute, just in case you have difficulties registering.

Wrestling will begin at 9:00 am. Please be at South Sevier High School (350 W 100 S, Monroe)  between 8-8:30 am so you can find your mat and warm up.

For the new guys that aren't aware:  We always warm up as a team. When you get to the school, please find the other boys and stick with them. After we warm up, we'll split and go to our own mats.

We will try our best to get pictures of every wrestler to include in the slideshow. Sometimes it's hard, especially if we are in seperate gyms. Please forward any pictures you want included in the slideshow to Shanelle at swinn1@farmersagent.com by Sunday evening. We try to have the slideshows up the Monday after tournaments.

Most of the gear has arrived and been handed out. If you haven't received your items, please come into the gym during practice and we'll get it to you. Gear has to be paid for before we will let you take it.

Amy Anderson will have all the information on the fundraiser at practice on Wednesday. If you're interested in that, be sure and come in the gym and talk to her about it.

Fundraiser and Super State

Parents:

Amy Anderson (Jerrit's mom) is putting together a fundraiser to help with the cost of wrestling. The money you earn can go towards tournaments, to reimburse yourself for your wrestling fee that you already paid, or gear.

The fundraiser that has been chosen is Butter Braid. They are sooooo good! They cost $12 each, and you get $5 for each one sold. All the money goes directly to you, and you can use it how you choose to.

Please visit butterbraid.com to see what they offer.

If you have questions, you can call or text Amy at 435-979-8233. She will have all the information at practice on Wednesday, February 11th for those who are interested.

We have a few wrestlers headed to Super State this weekend. We want to wish Keegan, Braygen, Tezlin, Kelan, and Hunter GOOD LUCK! We know you'll do great!

First Practice and the Beehive Brawl

We had a great first practice! Hopefully everyone had a great time and learned a few things :)  Please remember to bring any gently used shoes or singlets if you are wanting to sell them.

The boys thought they were just playing a game, but secretly got some conditioning in!

Bear Crawls!

Region Wrestling for the Middle School is tonight in Richfield. We want to wish our Team Takedown Wrestlers Tezlin, Damon, Ty, Kent, and Bridger Good Luck! We know you'll do great!

Gear Swap

One of the Team Takedown parents had a great idea.... To list the items they are selling (or looking for) so we know ahead of time what is available.

If you have any gear or shoes you want to buy/sell, please let Shanelle know, and we'll post it on this website. You can email swinn1@farmersagent.com, or teamtakedownwrestling@yahoo.com

We will also list the person selling the items, so you can contact them individually if you want to buy their items.

**Wrestler Owen has a pair of Nike wrestling shoes, size 3.5, for $15.  He is also looking for size 5 wrestling shoes. His brother Emmett is looking for everything, in a youth small.   If you can help them out or would like to purchase the Nike shoes, please contact them at  Out4elk@gmail.com.

Practice and the Beehive Brawl

Parents:

We will have our first Team Takedown practice on Wednesday, January 21st. Please have your child to the gym by 5 pm, ready to wrestle! Practice will end at 7:00 pm.

We are having a two hour practice on Wednesday, because it will be our only practice for the week. The middle school team has their Region Tournament, so the coaches and middle school kids will be over in Richfield for that on Thursday the 22nd.

For this practice we will spend time going over and learning all the basics.

The Beehive Brawl is January 23-24. You must have a USA card to attend. If you want to go and don't have a card, you can purchase one here. You have to sign up on Track Wrestling. If you click here, you will go to the track wrestling home page. Just do a search for the Beehive Brawl and register from there.  If you need help, let one of the coaches know.

Click here for the Beehive Brawl Flyer. It has all the weigh in information and tournament start times.

The Beehive Brawl is a National Tournament, so there will be a LOT of kids there, from all over the U.S. If your child is a beginner wrestler, you may want to consider skipping this one...

We have decided on a team singlet, and they will run around $45 (the price depends on how many we order). Wrestlers who have the orange singlet from last year are fine to use that, or you can get a new one if you want. They will be a different design this year. New wrestlers will be required to order an orange singlet (or purchase an old one from another wrestler who may have grown out of theirs).

If you have been on the team before, and would like to sell your singlet or shoes (that are still in good shape), please bring them to practice on Wednesday, along with an idea of what you would like to sell them for.

We should hopefully have an idea of tournament dates by Wednesday. We do know that State will be on March 28th in Salina. We will update this site when the schedules are released.

We are looking forward to an awesome season! See you Wednesday!

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Thank You to the parents and wrestlers who came to the Parent Meeting last night! We are excited to start the season and look forward to getting to know your kids!

The coaches will finalize the practice schedule this weekend and we will post it by Sunday evening.

We don't have a price yet on singlets, we are exploring different avenues for those to try and keep the price affordable. We will be planning on ordering soon, so we can have them here in time for our first tournament.

If any of you have wrestling shoes or the orange singlet that don't fit anymore (and are still in good condition), and want to sell them, please plan on bringing them to the first practice (along with a price you would like for them). Some of the other wrestlers may be interested in purchasing those items.
